On 5 April 2023, JSC Riga Port participated in the Shadow Day for the first time, supporting pupils in learning about career opportunities. This year Riga Port hosted 5 shadow pupils.
The “shadows” were hosted at Eksporta osta and observed cargo handling in warehouses andyards, as well as visited theoffice. The shadow day started with a safety briefing and an overview of the daily work at the port and continued with a tour of the cargo warehouses and the work taking place there.
Shadow Day is a globally recognised Junior Achievement career education programme for pupils in grades 1-12, during which pupils visit a workplace and spend 4-6 hours observing the daily work of a member of the profession of interest.
